Colour wheel granny square

Colour wheel granny square crochet

As you may have seen from my designs I love colour! Choosing colours is one of my favourite parts of starting a new project. There is some skill in creating a colour palette that looks pleasing. Knowing the principles of the colour wheel is key.

When I was asked to design a granny square for Simply Crochet magazine a couple of years ago this idea popped into my head, the granny square colour wheel. Below is the pattern for this granny square

Changing colour

When the pattern states a colour change, do it in the previous st. ie: Start the dc as normal but for the last part (yo and draw through 2 loops), yo with the new colour ready to start the next round.

I have a video showing you how to do the first round on my Youtube channel as it is a little fiddly. Find it here.

Using Yarn A, make a magic loop.

Round 1 Ch3 (counts as dc throughout), 1dc into the loop (all sts in this round to be worked into the loop), change to yarn B, 2dc, change to yarn C, 2dc, change to yarn D, 2dc, change to yarn E, 2dc, change to yarn F, 2dc, Ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [12 sts]
