Christmas Tree decoration pattern
Wow, 2024 has been an incredible year for Make Me Roar. We (myself and my husband) have done 5 craft shows, 5 live craft tv shows, published 7 patterns and 1 escape room! And lots more behind the scenes. I have met some incredible crafty people along the way and have absolutely loved seeing you share the things that you make from my patterns.
As a massive thank you for all of you that have supported us this last year, whether it was making a pattern purchase, or liking an Instagram post, I have whipped up a cute little Christmas Tree pattern for you. This quick little make can be hung on the tree or added to a Christmas present for that personal touch.
What you will need
This pattern is great for using up scrap yarn. I have mostly used Scheepjes Catona and they end up being about 8.5cm tall (not including the hanging loop). These are flat so no stuffing is needed:
- Scheepjes Catona 4ply, 100% mercerised cotton (you’ll need about 6 colours: 1 for the tree, 1 for the trunk, 1 for the edge details and 2-3 for the baubles)
- Ricorumi Gold Lamé (you can use this for edge details, the star, the baubles or the hanging loop).
- 2mm crochet hook (US C/2)
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
ABBREVIATIONS
This pattern is written in UK crochet terms. A UK dc (double crochet) is the same as a US sc (single crochet).
R : round
st/s : stitch/es
ch : chain
sl st : slip stitch
dc : double crochet
inc : increase (2dc in the same stitch)
BLO : Back loops only

EDGE DETAIL
Hold the tree upside down and join yarn into one of the left over front loops from round 9 of the tree:
(ch2, sl st into the next st) repeat to end.
Repeat the above for the left over front loops from round 15 of the tree.
Repeat a final time, working into the front loops in round 20 of the tree.
Thread the ends so that they are inside the tree, then knot them together and trim.
BAUBLE DETAIL
Make French knots over the tree in your chosen colours.
When you have finished the French knots, flatten the tree making sure the trunk is central. Then use the tail end from the tree to sew the base closed. Weave in end.

HANGING LOOP
ch30 or 40 (depending how long you want the loop).
Fasten off then sew to the top of the tree. Weave in ends.
Finished!
