If you use the yarn specified in the book there is a choice of thirteen skin colours and about the same in hair colour. The great thing about these patterns is that the dolls are crocheted almost in one piece from the feet up, with only the accessories needing a little sewing (great if you don’t like the sewing part at the end of a project)! Buy my new Crochet at Work book. All the crochet stitches you will need to make these dolls are clearly described and illustrated at the front of the book along with useful notes. This book is written in UK crochet terms and has a conversion chart to US terms at the back.

What you will need to make the dolls in this book:

Yarn

  • Yarn: I have used Rico Ricorumi (DK, 100% cotton, 25g balls) throughout, but of course you could use your yarn of choice
  • A 2.5mm crochet hook (if using the yarn above)
  • Toy filling
  • Safety eyes (I have used 7.5mm throughout but you may need a different size if you use a different yarn)
  • Stitch markers
  • A small sharp pair of scissors
  • A tapestry needle
  • A few pins
  • Sewing thread for some of the accessories
